The Black Book of Clark Ashton Smith is a transcription of a notebook that was kept by author Clark Ashton was released in by Arkham House in an edition of 2, copies. The book was transcribed from Smith's notebook by Donald Sidney-Fryer and Robert A. ('Rah') Hoffman. Appended to the transcription are two memoirs of Smith by George F. Haas. Xiccarph Edition. Chapbook. Near fine in a VG+ envelope. One of numbered copies, this is # The Fugitive Poems, Second Series Sixth Volume.

When Clark Ashton Smith started writing in the s, much of what he wrote was in connection with the Lovecraft Circle that contributed to the “Weird Tales” magazine. The most prominent members of the Circle were Clark Ashton Smith, Robert E Howard, and of course HP Lovecraft. Poetry readers and fantasy connoisseurs the world over have treasured "A Wine of Wizardry" and "The Hashish-Eater" for almost a century. Written by George Sterling in and Clark Ashton Smith in respectively, these poems have been the supporting lintel and threshold to a fantastic doorway of the imagination for generations of enthralled readers.
